Program Outcomes
The primary outcome of all Engineering Clinic Projects is the enhanced educational experience students gain in researching, reporting, and presenting solutions to real-world engineering problems.
Sponsor liaisons are included through each step of the project. Sponsors are given a copy of the final project report and are invited to attend the ECE Department's Technical Open House in the spring.
Sponsors enjoy enhanced recruiting opportunities and the chance to investigate a problem of interest with motivated students who dedicate multiple semesters to exploring engineering solutions.
Project Timeline
Fall Semester I |
Sponsors identify research interests and propose a potential project. Sponsors may give an on-campus seminar to recruit students. |
Spring Semester I |
Five students and a faculty adviser join the Sponsor's project team. The sponsor liaison and project members formally define the formal project. |
Fall Semester II |
Teams present progress through an initial design review. Team members have regular meetings with the liaison to receive feedback and to provide updates on progress. |
Spring Semester II |
Students present a second design review. Clinic teams make their final presentations at the Technical Open House. Teams also submit a comprehensive final report to their sponsoring company. |
