Development Priorities

Donate to the ECE Department online!

Development priorities are the major focus of our fundraising, marketing, and other development activities.

Priority 1 - Chair Discretionary Fund (also known as Greatest Need)

The Department Chair's Discretionary Fund is supported through donations of alumni and friends. The Chair, at his discretion, dispenses the money to areas deemed to have the greatest need within the department.

For example, we provided ECE students with a copy machine for lab and homework assignments. We advertised and attracted two outstanding new faculty members. We even support various students activities within the department, such as the ECE student barbecue in the spring.

Priority 2 - Scholarships and Fellowships

Donations to the Scholarship Fund are directly used to provide financial assistance to our students. The fund is used mainly to support the ECE Alumni Scholarship awarded annually to our top students.

We are also constantly expanding our financial support of both undergraduate and graduate ECE students through new scholarships and fellowships. Our ultimate goal is to provide free tuition for each and every ECE Department student.

Priority 3 - Endowments

The gift that keeps on giving, literally! Funding an endowment means providing a principle amount of money that the University Foundation carefully invests. The interest earned from the gift is used to provide your designated benefits indefinitely.

Common endowments include undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, and endowed faculty positions used to attract the best possible people to the ECE Department.
