Submission of Research Proposals
Faculty should submit a complete copy of their proposal to the Associate Chair of the ECE Department, Professor Behrouz Farhang-Boroujeny. To be submitted at the same time are the document summary sheets of the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP). For recordkeeping by the associate chair, faculty should also bring extra copies of:
- the document summary sheets
- the project summary
- the budget pages
A Dean's signature is required for every proposal submitted. The proposals are normally reviewed by the Associate Dean for Research. The proposal should be dropped off in the Dean's office (214 Kenn B) with Vicki Jensen (or in her box), and either Dean Brown or the Associate Dean will sign it. Please make sure that a note is attached to the proposal with a number where you can be reached when the proposal is ready for pick-up. You are responsible for getting the signed proposal to OSP.
OSP requires that the signed, completed proposal be submitted to them at least 5 days before it is due at the funding agency. Please keep this timeline in mind when you are preparing your proposal and getting signatures. If you don't meet OSP's deadline, they may not be able to meet the funding agency's deadline. Also, please remember to give OSP electronic access for submittal at the same time you give them the proposal hard copy. White papers and pre-proposals don't need signatures UNLESS the funding agency's RFP calls for them. However, for heads-up purposes, OSP has requested to receive copies of all pre-proposals.
