Hi, I'm a PhD student in the
Department of Bioengineering at
the
University of Utah. I am
interested
in developing and applying technology in the design of medical devices
to improve medical care. In particular, I'm interested in multirate
signal
processing, adaptive filtering, neural networks and information
visualization.
My research advisor is
Dr.
Dwayne Westenskow, Professor of Anesthesiology, Bioengineering and
Medical Informatics.
I work in the Anesthesia Bioengineering Laboratory at the University of
Utah,
Department of Anesthesiology,
Bioengineering Division. My primary work involves developing
instrumentation and algorithms for a portable CPR assist device. In
this
NASA
funded project, our group is developing a Basic Life Support System
(BLSS)
integrated with an AED (automatic external defibrillator). The goal is
to
help lay responders (with minimal or no medical training), especially
the
flight crew aboard the International Space Station (ISS), effectively
resuscitate
an unresponsive victim within a few minutes.
