| Homework: |
Homework will be assigned roughly on a weekly basis. Assignments are
due one week after the assignment date. Extensive use of numerical
simulation will be made (MATLAB). |
| Labs: |
A schedule will be arranged for two labs. One will be testing of waveguide
devices. The other will be based upon photonic device simulation software
package. |
| Exams: |
There will be two exams during the semester and a final. The final exam
will be a research presentation from each student. |
| Final Presentation: |
This is a presentation only, no written paper. You will have 20 minutes
during the final exam period, including a few minutes for questions. This
should not be a simple overview of what someone else has already done. Add
something of your own, such as a new device, concept, discussion of engineering
tradeoffs, etc. |
