Charles Brother Convention (Exit 32, North Bend, Mar. 28,
2004)
On Saturday, the Charles Brother Convention in Seattle started around
3:00 when Trev and Fras rolled into Seattle after getting lost in
Vancouver leaving the airport. Saturday afternoon we went by the
UW campus, and then got some groceries to make Bulgogi (Korean
Barbequed Beef), and a free pie that someone else had dropped and
returned. Saturday night we went to bed early since Fras was
tired from the flight from Toronto. We woke up early on Sunday,
to sunny clear blue skies, and promptly got ready and headed to exit 32
to do some climbing.
We started at World Wall I on a juggy 5.9 called Reptiles and
Amphibians. Below are photos of each of us on the climb:

We then moved onto one of the Little Si classics, a 5.11b called
Aborigine. Below are photos of myself and Fras on this climb:

After these climbs we were pretty hungry, so we decided to eat the free
pie we had gotten the day before, and brought along to the crag for
some fine dining:

After replenishing our energy reserves with strawberry-rhubarb pie, we
got on a 5.10c to the right of the wall, I'm not sure what it is called
but it is really fun, going from slabby and technical at the start to
overhung and pumpy for the last few bolts. Here is a picture of
Trev on the climb:

At his point the camera stopped working for a while, but Fras tried a
5.11d called Rainy Day Woman. He took a fall and a hang when he
botched a sequence, but thoroughly enjoyed the climb, professing it to
be the best climb he has ever done. With the draws hung and Fras
and Trev yelling beta and encouragement, I was able to hang on for the
send, which I was happy about since I thought I had no chance, and
almost gave up several times.
Next we went and did a super fun 5.10b called Goddess. It
is slightly overhung at the start with huge jugs, really fun
climbing. Here are some photos of each of us on the climb:

After that we headed back to Seattle for some climbing on my garage
wall, where Fras flashed all my established problems and sent all my
projects. Here is a photo of all of us before Trev and Fras
headed back to Vancouver:
