Goldbar Bouldering (Sept. 24, 2006)

On this sunny Sunday, Justin and I loaded up his land barge (1987 Toyota Landcruiser) and headed out to Goldbar for some bouldering.  I don’t feel like writing much right now so I won’t, but the summary is: we climbed a bunch of fun problems, cleaned a few new ones, and had a good time.  I discovered that there is a lot more rock at Goldbar than I remembered from the first time I was there, and I definitely want to go back because there were a bunch of quality looking lines that we saw but didn’t get a chance to get to.  Here are some photos, two different vantage points of Justin and myself on the problem Justin cleaned a few weeks earlier called Levitation (V4):

Here are a couple of photos of a V3 that a guy named Gabe had just cleaned, short but really fun, with a crux move being a throw to a pinch (we are both doing the same move in the photos, from different vantage points).

Here are a couple of photos of a V2 to the right of the last problem, that did a rising traverse on a thin seam finishing with a throw to a jug, really fun.  Gabe had just cleaned this about 15 minutes before we did it, it even still had some wet mud in the seam left from the moss that had been there.  Brand new boulder problem, fresh out of the moss!

And finally, here are some photos of a highball V2 that we did.  Gabe had also cleaned this one recently, and it used to be a V4 but I moved some moss and found a new hold that made it a lot easier.
