ABET Director:

Evaluations done yearly of EE exit interviews, exit surveys, external surveys (Alumni + EAB members + industry) and surveys sent by Student Success Committee, and retention data and provides summaries and recommendations for changes.

Lab Safety Director

Oversee and ensure Lab Safety in the Department

Overall Tasks: 

To promote and maintain a safe and healthy lab environment for students, researchers, staff, and faculty.  

Oversees the implementation of policies and procedures 

Primary contact of ECE engaging with EHS (annual & spot inspections)  

Providing safety resources for research and teaching labs. Specifically, we focus on chemicals, biomaterials, non-ionized/ionized radiation, and general hazard (e.g., slip/trip hazard)  

Monitoring annual SAM inspections in the ECE Department  

Safety Director:

Overseeing research lab safety (ECE Reporting Website) 

Collecting & Sharing Lab Safety resources for ECE community (Website) 

Oversee departmental lab policies and budget. 

Develop and administer a department safety plan, including lab inspections, and oversee the development of safety plans and Canvas training for each departmental lab 

RPT Director

Oversee generation and review formal and informal review reports/files to assure adherence to policy and completeness 

Support and promote faculty development 

Review informal review reports to assure adherence to policy and completeness. 

Tenured Faculty Reviews: Carries out 5-year tenured faculty review according to university policy.

Senior Advisor:

Assists Department Chair with high-level items by advising on previous departmental directions.

ABET Coordinator:

Assists ABET Director with coordination of information needed from UG and G program.

Curriculum

  • Curriculum evaluation in subarea to include quality control (Asia Campus included). Plan to be coordinated with ABET chair, UG, and G committees.   
  • Teaching plan for 5 years (including sabbaticals and other known situations)  
  • Set annual targets and check that they are being reached  
  • Responsible for organizing, gathering data, and providing summaries of subarea courses per ABET schedule.   
  • Provide a yearly summary from collected data (surveys from student success committee, exit interviews/surveys, DEWI reports, student course feedback) and brings to the chair to create action plans to improve student curriculum.    
  • Network with companies in subarea to gather knowledge from industry to use as proposals for curricular changes.      
  • Reviews and coordinates any transfer evaluation within subarea as requested by transfer coordinator.  
  • Acts as a representative in curricular change discussions and provides subarea perspectives.  

Graduate Committee 

Chair: Oversee all graduate program, tasks/assignments

    • Evaluates Exceptions to Policy as they are submitted. If straightforward, consult with ABET coordinator to see if ABET needs to be considered for the petition.  Decides if petition needs to be discussed by committee or not.    
    • Coordinates with Admissions, Graduation, and Transfer Coordinator about yearly proposal. 
    • Coordinates with ABET coordinator (David) and ABET Curriculum coordinator once data is gathered and summaries created.  Oversees discussions with Committee about these summaries and works with committee to develop plans of action.    
    • Implements all changes for courses and catalog and program in University level software.

Admissions, Graduation, Transfer Coordinator

Admissions 

  • Keeps a history of admissions numbers and information about student identities (ethnicity, gender, first gen, etc. (transfer students, underrepresented minority groups, first getn, etc)) to aid in understanding program.  (Advisor) 
  • Coordinates with student success committee on joint efforts.  
  • Collects additional data and develops action plans to improve curriculum.  Presents data and proposals yearly.  

   

Graduation: 

  • Keeps a history of time to graduation by gathering data and information about student identities (transfer students, underrepresented minority groups, first gen, etc). (Advisor) 
  • Verifies students are ready for graduation (graduation clearance) (Advisor) 
  • Collects additional data and develops action plans to improve curriculum.  Presents data and proposals yearly.  

  

Transfer Evaluations:  

  • Evaluate requested transfer petitions as they are submitted. Inform students if they submit a petition for other department courses how to submit to the correct department. If the course is an ECE course, the evaluator performs the evaluation based on history and/or gets input from current instructor for that course.   
  • Keeps a record of petitions.   
  • Submits approved courses once a year to University system (currently Transferology)  
  • Communicates promptly (no more than 2 weeks and preferably within a week) of petition decision. If taking longer than this timeframe communicates to student an expected time frame.
