For each of these credit request forms, students must meet with an ECE faculty or approved advisor to review their eligibility before submitting the form

Submit form to your academic advisor or the ECE Main Office to be enrolled

Petitions


If an “I” grade is appropriate, the instructor & student should make a clear plan for completion together.

Request a transfer evaluation from the appropriate department for each class you would like to petition.

End of Degree


Complete the following checklist with your academic advisor, and apply by posted deadlines.

General

Students should transfer eligible credits immediately upon entering the graduate program

Once your defense has been scheduled, we will advertise it to our faculty, students, and industry partners on our department socials

students should meet with their academic advisor and review the degree requirements set by the Graduate School.

Master's

For planning out your degree. Can also be signed by Graduate Student Coordinator for tuition reimbursement (i.e. PAQ program, etc.)

Complete form and return in person or via email to the Graduate Student Coordinator to be enrolled in ECE 6950 project credits. For more information see MS Project page.

When their MS project is completed, students need to submit this form to the Graduate Student Coordinator before the end of their final term.

PhD

Supervisory Committee

Students may complete this form with signatures, or send list of committee members to the Graduate Student Coordinator to be entered into the Grad Tracking system. For committee members outside of the University of Utah the following will also need to be provided:

  • CV (updated within the last 3 years)
  • Justification Letter – The student should submit a paragraph explaining why the committee member was chosen to search on the student’s committee and how they are qualified to assist with the student’s research. The Graduate Student Coordinator will formalize the letter with letterhead and DGS signature.
